The Green Fairy

{ Warning: Drink Moderately. }

Absinthe (pronounced /ˈæbsɪnθ/ ab-sinth, or ˈæbsænθ ab-santh) is historically described as a distilled, highly alcoholic (45–74% ABV / 90-148 proof) beverage.[1][2][3][4] It is an anise-flavoured spirit derived from herbs, including the flowers and leaves of the herb Artemisia absinthium, commonly referred to as "grande wormwood", together with green anise and sweet fennel. Absinthe traditionally has a natural green colour but can also be colourless. It is commonly referred to in historical literature as "la fée verte" (the "green fairy" in French). --- { Wikipedia }
Last Friday me and my cousin decided to go shopping because we found out that Kamiseta will be launching their first day Sale. So off we went to the store and grabbed the prettiest we could get.  At the end of the day, we head out to another mall where we can get calamine lotion for her sensitive skin for bug bites and a USB speaker for dad's laptop. As we were looking around the department store, we passed by the Beverage area and she gave me a look in her face wanting to buy a drink for the ladies. Undecided what to buy, she asked me what could taste good. I was a little hesitant to tell her what brand to get cause if there is anyone who would know better, I know I am totally the wrong person. And besides, she should know better cause she is from the West and she parties and drinks occasionally. And also, I don't drink that much alcohol. Last time I did was maybe 2 or 3 years ago when I had a flaming martini in front of my face. As we were checking on the labels I remembered Absinthe which my co-workers used to drink in a bar in Makati. I was just curious how it taste like since I've heard them talk how good it tastes and smells. In short, we patiently looked for it and finally found it and brought it home. (Where we bought it, Robinsons Mall, it cost 1,250.00 Php for one bottle) Thanks to my brother who have been patiently waiting for us and drove us back home.

As we started to drink, my cousin came up with the idea of playing a party and beer game. She has a list of beer games on her Ipod and we chose the Heads or Tails game.

According to french literature, take a shot and you'll get to see the green fairy. That's not true. I've had like 4 shots already but no green fairies showed up. LOL. Well, the real deal could be that because it has high volume of alcohol (60%) you'll feel a little bit nauseous and dizzy but after a while it goes away. We used Coca Cola as the chaser. We were joined by my sister who had like 3 shots of it but puke really bad afterwards. As for my cousin, I was told she'd tried a few alcoholic beverages but this wouldn't be her oh so favorite. It's just way too much alcohol for her. I had a few shots. I honestly think that it wouldn't hurt as long as you don't drink way too much in one sitting. You can always drink the rest of the bottle anytime. I wanted to have another drink of it the next day but found my sister, my cousin and my cousin's wife finishing it all off. Oh my! The funny thing is, my sister and my cousin's wife got so sick they had headaches and hangover in the morning. So it's always good to head the advise: DRINK MODERATELY or it'll bite like a serpent!
